Altheim is an old town.  Its fortified church was built in the 1200's and enlarged in the 1500s.  It has been modified since.  The church is called Marien-Kirche, but also referred to as Church of St. Maria, Simon,and Judas.

Wolff Hasselbacher and his family worshiped here as early as 1660.
