In August 2009 I prepared a presentation summarizing what I, as an outsider, was able to assemble about the "pre-American" history  of the Franconian, Peter Hasselbacher/ Hazelbaker.  I fudged my assignment a bit by setting my break-point as the time of of Peter's 1781 detention in Winchester, Virginia and his marriage to Elizabeth Shively near that time and place.

What follows is a sequence of 103 slides divided for convenience into the following sections:

In all of these sections, I try to be specific about the sources of our information.

Some of these slides will suffer from the lack of my oral commentary, but most of the material is already presented elsewhere on this website, or soon will be.  Again, under the theory of not letting the perfect being the enemy of the good, I place all the slides here for your perusal. The number of slides may be unwieldy, but I will try to fill in the gaps as we go along.  You can help.
